The time for realization of Maraza has come
New Town for better living
After years of paper planning, the time has finally come for the realization of Maraza New Town. The first phase of 10 hectares is currently being prepared for construction. Soon the permit will be submitted for the follow-up phase of another 50 hectares. In the meantime, the municipal land development company SDUB has been established and started working.
The development of 50 hectares of residential area means a safe and healthy living environment for approximately 10,000 inhabitants. Our design for Maraza sets a new standard for large scale urbanization in Mozambique. The design is based on a Green Infrastructure. We used the natural conditions to avoid floods and create a dry and healthy urban environment. The project highlights the need to protect this objective. Maraza will become an inclusive New Town with a certain portion of the houses being built for low incomes, besides middle incomes an high incomes. This will contribute to the concept of ‘livable’ and mixed cities, avoiding stigmatization of low income groups. Read more about this project.
